Our Women’s Artistic gymnasts have been busy out at competitions over the past month or so. Read on to catch up on all the action…
Paul Reay North West Team Challenge
Last month some of our Junior and Senior girls went to compete at the Paul Reay Challenge. For quite a few of our gymnasts this was their first time taking part in a 4 piece competition and many gymnasts went out performing brand new skills. The difficulty was also raised with the fact that they competed in an open age category, meaning that some of our gymnasts were up against girls twice their age! All of the gymnasts represented the club fantastically and put in their best effort, we hope they all enjoyed the experience and carry it forward to future competitions.
North West Age Groups & FIG Challenge Cup Qualifiers
Towards the end of September Akyra, Amayah, Mabelle and Renee went to Wigan to take on the North West Age Groups and FIG Challenge Cup Qualifiers. Akyra had a fantastic competition coming 1st on bars, beam, floor & overall combined level 4 champion, with the highlight of Akyra’s round being her incredible beam routine. Later on our FIG gymnasts entered the competition attempting many upgrades. Mabelle also had an amazing beam performance taking gold on beam and bronze overall. Renèe had a challenging day but took it head on, and ended up taking silver on vault, along with 4th on beam and bars. This was Amayah’s first event competing as an FIG gymnast, and she put in fantastic effort managing to qualify for the challenge cup.
Pink Ladies
The following weekend our girls were back out competing in South Durham at the Pink Ladies competition. It was a weekend filled with amazing results, and as there were so many we have listed them below.
Voluntary level 4
Akyra – Gold on vault, beam, floor, Silver on bars and Gold overall. Akyra even managed to improve on her scores from the previous weekend.
Voluntary level 5
Scarlett – Gold on bars and beam, Bronze on vault and Gold overall. This was Scarlett’s first time competing at this level.
Espoir FIG
Renèe – Gold on bars, Silver on floor and Bronze on vault and Silver overall. Renee scored a new personal best both with and without the espoir bonuses.
Espoir Challenge
Amayah – Silver on floor, Bronze on vault, and 4th overall. For Amayah’s second FIG competition she did a fantastic job with another new personal best also!
Elite level 6
Rosemary – Gold on bars, Silver on beam and Bronze overall.
Annabelle finished 6th overall.
Our team finished with the silver medal.
Club level 4
Chantania – Gold on bars, Bronze on beam and Gold overall.
Alicia JB – Silver on bars and beam, Bronze on floor and Silver overall.
Alicia A finished 5th overall.
The team are team took Gold.
Club level 5
Our final competitor was Madeline and she had a great first competition after moving up a level.
All of our gymnasts gave it their best across the weekend and really did the club proud.
