City of Manchester Gymnastics has had great success at another British Championships!
This year our gymnasts took home a total of 7 medals and saw Joe Feery crowned the Under 18 Floor champion, and Evan McPhillips became Under 16 champion of the Rings and Parallel Bars (plus finished 2nd All Around).
In the Men’s Under 18 category the club had 3 gymnasts scoring in the top 10 All Around. A fantastic achievement with the added success of Jamiah taking a BRONZE vault medal and our young men qualifying for a total of 10 apparatus finals between them.
Sadly our best gymnast in the Women’s Junior age group (Akyra Rodgers-Plummer) received an injury whilst starting out on vault and had to withdraw. Annabelle Green however, stayed the course in the Aspire under 14 age group and finished in a commendable 30th place amongst a strong field of Britain’s best.
Fortunately, our Junior under 16 men had a fantastic day with Evan leading the way and winning SILVER medal in the All Around competition. Evan took 4 apparatus medals including 2 GOLDS. Lucas Morris finished in 21st position, whilst Sammy Cotter finished 22nd.
Our under 14 boys, Ethan Critchlow and Alfie Jenkinson competed at their first British on podium in the main arena at Liverpool’s M&S arena.
